Gah!

So again i am really sorry for not posting yesterday...i kinda just totally crashed and was having more internet malfunctions (which i solved) but yeah.  i literally like slept all day yesterday.  i got home from the concert after sleeping over at my cousins house, and just slept some more.  but i so needed that.  but anyways.  so yesterday was sunday and my plan for sunday was to send you guys to postsecret.  my favorite blog ever.  its on the same website, just click here
it's amazing.  at least in my opinion
its really eye opening for me
every week people send in their secrets on any mailable material to the address provided on the website, and every sunday about 20 secrets or so are posted on the site for the public to view.  there are also books that are published with secrets that have never been seen before on the site.
for me its a really great experience to read because you can connect with some of the secrets, and it also helps you understand people more. and if your having a bad day, you can read it and realize that you are actually better off than you thought you were, or worse off, or know that at least one other person is going through the same thing that you are.  and i visit it every sunday religiously.  so for today, thats all i really have to say. i encourage you all to visit and read some secrets, or just sit down at the bookstore for a minute and read a few secrets.  maybe even feel inspired to read one of your own.

sick day

i am sooooo sorry that i didnt post last night. but i have legitimate excuses.
1. i got to see my boyfriend yesterday for the first time in weeks (ok 15 days) so i obviously went out with him
2.i got home really late
3. my laptop had no Internet
4. i fell asleep after i discovered i had no Internet

so i've gotta make this quick because im writing it from someone elses computer. and i have to do a crapload of chores really fast because i have to leave for the Dave Matthews Band concert soon.

um, quick topic: Wall-E
the critics are right, this movie, although about piles of trash, is in no way a pile of trash. It is, dare i say touching. I definitely a must see this summer. although there is barely any dialouge till about the middle, and even then its scarce, the characters still captivate you and drag you into their little world of the future.
the only thing that i found concerning was thee portrayal of the future. not only is the world covered in trash, but people live in space, and they are MORBIDLY obese. its really gross. (i mean it would be if they werent cartoons)

allright si must be off now, again srry about yesterday, and i guess ill write tomorrow!

apparently its not friday...

so...i thought it was friday for a little bit this morning, till i got into work (camp counselor) and everybody was like "no tomorrow is an alpha day so we go to this class today" and i was like oh its not friday...
but i was also a little bit spacey because all my friends (including my boyfriend) come back from South Africa today!!! i'm so excited to have them all back.  i missed you all! allright fine, i missed most of you.  as we tell the children, lying is bad.

so this past week i have noticed a reoccurring theme in mine (and other peoples) conversations.  and that topic is problems in society.
now this is really broad, so im just going to touch on it.
to start us off, i know its not just me who has noticed, but today, not only have the skirts of america's teenagers been getting shorter...but the skirts of america's children are getting shorter.  im talking 5 year olds in miniskirts.  seriously, what is wrong with that picture...so many things!
not only do they "not have anything to show off" but its just gross. i mean these kids are innocent little people who still think guys have cooties (actually...well we'll get to that in a second.) i mean when i was little i would wear leggings pulled up as high as they could possibly go.  im not saying this is a good fashion statement, but consider this.  i know when alot of us look back at our pictures when we were little kids, we were wearing overalls and dresses with pants underneath and t shirts that were too big, polos tucked into your jeans...you get the point,  we dressed with modesty.  today walking down the street or at the mall, i see little kids in mini mini skirts, tube tops, halter tops, belly shirts, i mean seriously! first of, it just looks ridiculous.  i dont want to get in trouble for this but parents, what were you thinking?!  look at your little girl and think, if this is what she's wearing now, then how short is her skirt going to be when shes say 16? is she even going to be wearing a shirt? or will that be just "too much fabric." i mean its gotta say something when you look at a teenager who is showing less skin than your 5 year old girl.  the point being, put some leggings under that skirt, buy skorts (shorts/skirts combination) replace the tube top with a t-shirt.  this look must go.  onto cooties.
so remember a time when dating was something you only began to think of in 5th grade, right after you realized in 4th grade that, "hey, boys really are cute" (or girls if you are a boy or lesbian or bisexual or anything)but today...ha well today in age, im not even sure if cooties still exist...personal example, i know a 13 year old who is on his like 7th girlfriend, huh?
i may not be in the loop, but im pretty sure that none of us sophomores started dating till like 7th grade right?  so today in age, by 7th grade, apparently you have had more than 5 girlfriends. not only are people dating much earlier, which consequently is not so much of a problem as the following is, but they are doing other things.  7th graders preforming blow jobs, 8th graders having sex...thats a little tooo early.  i mean everyone is entitled to their own opinions and im not condoning or promoting abstinence but im just saying middle schoolers and sex do not mix. isn't anyone a virgin anymore?
next: technology.  i know that i am guilty of this and i realize my bad.  but today in age, there are so many ways to talk to someone that are completely artificial.  whatever happened to face to face conversations.  really, those are amazing.  as great as texting, emailing, iming and all those other things are, face to face is always better.  you can show emotions besides happy and sad, you can say things with a tone, and best of all you can touch, see, smell and all that jazz to the person you're talking to.  so call your friends up and arrange a get together.  go out to dinner! its really great.
also, among my faults, ipods and headphones.  i am guilty of listening to my ipod on the metro, airplanes, in the car, walking...and any spare time i have.  but why not try and strike up a conversation? or read a book, do a crossword puzzle? i know im going to start picking up a newspaper on my way to the subway, catch up on the news of the day, and the sudoku puzzle for brainwork.  but dont block out the sounds of the earth.  so one day, just take a walk and see what you hear.  or sit on the subway and just listen to the chatter of people.  besides, you never know what you could hear. you could hear some potentially interesting conversations.  but when eavesdropping, be careful.  dont be so obvious to the fact your listening.  and im not saying its ok, but its not that bad because you dont know these people.
finally, why cant people take a compliment anymore.  my friend brought this to my attention today.  i mean why cant someone say, you are so friggin cool! without you thinking "are they hitting on me, are they crazy, do i know you?"
i mean just say thank you and be like, yeah i am cool.  its a self confidence boost, somebody is complimenting you. say thank you. can't anybody just accept that some people are really genuine? i mean it is hard to believe in a world of phonies.  but we are out there, and when we tell you your freakin cool, you are!

ok i feel like that's enough for today, in fact it may be a little too much.
as always, comments appreciated!

till tomorrow

and on the second day god said...

ok, just so we are clear to begin with, my personal opinions on religion: God is someone that you blame your fortune or misfortune on. although i cant take credit for that idea. I would like to credit my friend Brennan wrote this essay about it, and it got me thinking about it. so here it is for your own reading pleasure:

God is an idea, he only exists as a thought, an intangible being and a state of mind that assists those who are open to it.  The tangibility of God resembles a solar black hole, not the purpose of the black hole destroying matter but the idea of one.  The sun, as with all the stars in the Milky Way galaxy, is thought to be orbiting a black hole because they are so dense, even though black holes are miniscule, almost nothing in size, and are only discussed in theory.  God, in the same way creates an orbital attraction.  Much like black holes, Hod only exsists as an idea and is only discussed in theory.  A black hole is an intangible force that underlines all matter, and it has the most gravitational pull of anything known to man.  God underlines all believers' emotions, and belief in God indirectly dictates all humans' actions.
Matter that is sucked into a black hole is distorted and loses all idea of time and it is believed to enter infinity.  Much like  black hole, the idea of a God distorts humans in both a good way and a bad way.  For example, violence in the Middle East is a result from the idea of a God, and the promises that were made far in the past.  Or the instinctual idea that humans have a right and wrong.  God does not have control over all creation, but that illusion is created upon having something to blame when the unexpected happens, or something to praise when good happens.  If anything, God is the idea a d human manifestation of all that is good in this world.

and if you want to check out his blog for some of his other writing: double click

so i apologize in advance for todays entry, its going to be slightly on the boring side.  i'm just having a few personal problems.  i'm not going to indulge because
a.  they are personal
b. talking about other peoples problems is what got me in this predicament in the first place

so lets see...today i feel like talking about youtube.
why?
i really have no idea, i was just thinking about it as i was riding the metro because well, i have nothing better to do on the metro.

YOUTUBE.COM: swivel chair potatoes
Youtube.com, one of the newest (i could be lying, i dont remember how long its been around) forms of mind-numbing vegging.  I myself find that i sit in front of the TV for endless hours, its really a nasty habbit.  but youtube...my main question is, how do people find these funny videos.  i mean really there are only a hand full of quality comedy videos. but not even.  some of them are just that weird kind of comedy that you find yourself laughing at even though it really is not funny at all.  personally, i do not spend my free time looking for funny youtube videos.  the only useful purpose that youtube serves are the following:
-if you missed a TV show, in the next few hours, look for it on youtube...chances are you may find it
-songs.  music videos, or just music...if you cant afford to buy it, just youtube it.  also just as effective is www.last.fm  but not all artists are on there, but check the site out anyways
-scenes from movies that you just cant live without watching 100 times
-reviewing commercials if you are a real marketing ploy buff
-uploading a video for a school project
-checking up on what in the world is miley and mandy are up to on their webshow now while they are...lets say not themselves
and thats about it
under no circumstances is it acceptable to sit at your computer for hours looking for the most hilarious youtube video you can find.  i know that there are MUCH better things for you to be doing...heres a thought, go outside! fresh air, nature, elements, its good stuff.
but seriously people, read a book, hang out with people...anything but veg at your computer.
allright, since i have bashed youtube for the past paragraph, maybe i should say a few good words about it.
youtube is a good networking sight in which normal people like you and me can have a chance to get their word out there on the world wide web.  web shows, movie reviews, or just silly things, everyone deserves their 15 minutes of fame, and youtube is the place to do it.  so grab your video camera, grab your friends and get out there on the internet to put your two cents in!
that is all the good things

so i guess its time for video listings:
truth:people have different senses of humor.  what i find funny, may not be funny to you.  so do not, i repeat do not, blame me if these videos are not funny
allright, my personal favorites:
elmo's world behind the scenes, satan pooh, the miley and mandy show (its not funny, or good, its just interesting to watch them make total fools of themselves on the internet), blood, charlie bit my finger, he's gonna kick my ass, baltimore cop strikes again, mahna mahna (the muppets), select episodes of smosh, jesus singing i will survive, akhmed the dead terrorist, can i have yo number, worst movie lines ever, and that is all.

unacceptable videos: (these videos are not funny...at all)
candy mountain and ANY video from this series of charlie the unicorn and his friends.  also, leave all the charlie's in the world alone. next time before you start quoting candy mountain, think "i wonder how many times she/he has heard this...does it annoy her/him"
this advice also applies to charlie bit my finger.  i am guilty of this crime in the case of charlie bit my finger, but i have learned my lesson.
the miley and mandy show.  i know i put this under acceptable videos, but truly this show is horrible.  i have seen one episode and i barely made it through.  not only is it ridiculously long for a show of that quality, but its stupid.

so basically the moral of the blog post is: don't spend all day looking for youtube videos, because that is such a HUGE waste of time.

i highly doubt anyone is reading this, but if you are...
what are your opinions on todays subject of youtube?
and also, if you have any particularly funny videos that you would like to share, or if you have a video that you have made, send me the link and ill post them!
and if you are reading: thank you!
i really appreciate it you guys!

Day 1

Tuesday June 24, 2008
Hello readers! (and Brennan)
First blog post...very exciting stuff.
So, since it is the first post, I thought that i would establish the purpose or the intentions of this blog, until I realized that i have yet to decide  either of those.  But worry not, its only the first post, we have plenty of time for that.
I am going to try my hardest to post every day (even if its just a short sentence of two) and hopefully, you guys will come back every day to read it.
I have high hopes for myself and this blog.
So anyways, i guess today i'll tell you a little bit about me to start off this relationship. (ha)
So, here it goes:
Hi, i'm Natasha but you can call me Nats if you want.  At the current time, im 15 years old.  That horrible age where you are too young to be fully independent, (no drivers license, no rated R movies...etc)  but too old for kids stuff.  Although who does not enjoy a good playground? I know i do, even thought the majority of the things are too small, and all the parents and nannies stare at you.
Truths: im afraid of escalators and falling, im short, im hispanic (not mexican damn it), im a girl, i dont like you use capital letters (it took a lot of effort in the above paragraphs), i text too much, im an artist and a writer (or at least claim to be, your comments will tell all), i play the piano and i have played for a decade, im going into 10th grade (my school is a secret.  if i told you i would have to kill you), i like concerts, live music is the best, especially any combination of acoustic, alternative, indie, rock, folk, and pop, i like to read but i also watch way to much TV, i am a fashionista and have wayyy to much clothes and wayy to many shoes (about 50 pairs at last estimation), i have no favorite anything, just a select few things that i like alot,i am allergic to every plant that gives off pollen and cats, i am currently employed as a camp counselor and loving every minute of it, i have no set career path for myself but i have ideas (anthropologist, 1st grade or kindergarten teacher, journalist, or designer/photographer), im from DC and thats where i still am, and i am under no circumstances, a normal teenage girl.
so thats me in a nutshell, or more.  maybe thats a coconut shell, or something larger because i feel like that was alot.  congratulations if you made it through that.
i feel like this is sufficient, at least for today, and i also have to go make my lunch for work tomorrow.
Whoever is reading this, comment! please. or email me, whatever floats your boat.  tell me what you want to hear, what you want to see on the blog! reader input is an amazing thing.  seriously.
signing off,
Natasha

PS: here's a good read
